This is the home of the DXCC Mappings space.

This space explains some of the DXCC mapping decisions made by Club Log, in order that you can better understand the reason for some of the error messages that you may have got after an upload. See the list of articles below.

DXCC Mapping index:
Your error report
Before contacting Alan 5B4AHJ about errors reported from your upload, please observe the following:
  • Check that you have the latest country file for your logging software. The majority of errors are the result of users using out of date country files.
  • Check the DXCC Mappings space (this space) for any articles that may explain unexpected errors resulting from an upload.
  • If your error message says "There are comments about <callsign> in the Club Log database, which may provide further details", please follow the link and read the message. It may explain the error.
  • Check your error report carefully, and update your log if you are happy that Club Log is correct.
  • If you have entered QSOs from old QSL cards, check that you don't have the day and month transposed in the date field of your logging software.

If you believe Club Log to be incorrect, please contact Alan, 5B4AHJ and provide the following information:

  • The reason you disagree with Club Log
  • Some evidence such as a QSL image (see panel below) or a URL to a relevant web page.
  • A copy of the error message specific to the QSO you are referring to.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Zone queries should be addressed to Dimitri, SV2YC, the Club Log zone guru, not to 5B4AHJ.
QSL images
I can handle QSL images in pretty well any format or resolution.
However, it would help me greatly if users could note the following:
  • Preferred image size is 500px on the maximum dimension. Any size in the range 400-800 px is OK. Images bigger than 800px have to be scaled.
Tell your scanner that the ultimate destination of the image is the www - that should result in a correctly sized scan.
  • Please do not send a QSL image in the corner of an A4 scan. It takes time for me to crop and resize the image.
Please use your scanner's preview or autocrop or similar mode, so that the scan is restricted to the QSL area only.
  • Please ensure the image is in jpg format - I have to spend time converting other formats.
  • Please take care that the QSL is parallel to the edge of the scanner bed. It takes time to adjust the rotation of the image.

QSL images conforming to all of the above requirements are quick and easy to add to Call Tester, allowing me to spend more time on Club Log research.
